Ikeogu Oke for burial On 30th March 2019


IKEOGU OKE FOR BURIAL ON 30TH MARCH 2019



 Ikeogu Oke, the NLNG 2017poet laureate who died on the 24 November,2018 ,is now to be buried on 30th of March 2019  at Akanu Ohafia in Abia State according to a statement released by the family and singed by Kalu Oke Ikeogu . According to the statement, there will be night vigil at Chief Imo Ikeogu’s Pavilion,Ugwuaffia layout ,Akanu Ohafia on the 29th of March,2019. On the 30th March,2019 the body will lay in state for songs,prayers and tributes by 11am and interment will be at his country home Ugwuaffia  layout,Akanu Ohafia by 1pm.

The Association of Nigerian Authors(ANA) will have a festival of life at the eve of the burial on the 29th March,2019 during the vigil where the poetic book of tributes “For Ikeogu,For Poetry” published by the Association and Edited by Denja Abdullahi and Ofonime Inyang will be outed.The collection of 51 poems on the poet, written by both old and young Nigerian poets was published in February 2019 after a call for submission in December, 2018 for poems in honour of the departed poet.

World Poetry Day: Writers to honour late ICPC boss with book launch in Kwara tomorrow




The Kwara State Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), in conjunction with the National Library of Nigeria, Kwara State Branch, set to commemorate the World Poetry Day with a book presentation in honour of former ICPC chairman, Justice Mustapha Adebayo Akanbi, who died early last year.

According to a statement from the Kwara ANA, the book, “Harmonious Chronicles”, which is scheduled for launch on Thursday at Mustapha Akanbi Library and Resource Centre, Ilorin, is open to writers, authors, literary enthusiasts as well as the late Akanbi’s proteges, friends and associates.

“The book is a literary compendium dedicated to the pillar of support and benefactor of the Association of Nigerian Authors, late Justice Mustapha Adebayo Akanbi, who died early last year,” the statement said.

 “Expected at the occasion are academics, legal luminaries, literary scholars and other important dignitaries from all walks of life,” the statement said.

The statement added that after the book review by Dr. Mahfouz Adedimeji, there would be a series of poetry and dramatic performances.

“To this end, interested performers at the event are mandated to send in their well edited works of salient themes to kwaraana15@gmail.com for scrutiny and prior approval by the Local Organising Committee (LOC) before D-Day.

“The subject of the work should be, “Work to Present at Kwara ANA’s Harmonious Chronicles Public Presentation” and should be sent as a single MS Word attachment or copy-pasted in the body of the mail,” the statement added.
