ANA INAUGURATES NDUBUISI ENEH AS CHAIRMAN, LOCAL ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
(LOC) OF HER 38TH INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION
The former Enugu State Chairman
of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Hon Ndubuisi Eneh was on Saturday,
June 29, inaugurated as the Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of
the 38th International Convention of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA)
code named “Coal-City Homecoming 2019”.
The National President of the
Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Mallam Denja Abdulahi alongside ANA’s
Vice President, Dr. Camilus Uka, inaugurated the committee at the Governing
Council Hall of ATCOI College of Education, Enugu, Enugu State.
It will be recalled that the “Coal
City”, Enugu State won the bid to host the 38th Annual International Convention
of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) holding from 31st October -3rd
November, 2019 with the theme " Literature, Nationalism and the Poetics of
Integration." at the last year convention which took place in Lagos.
A
renowned Poet, Mrs Chinemerem Anyi will serve as Secretary of the Committee while Barr Ugochukwu
Agballa (a former Enugu State Works Commissioner),
Sir Gregory Adiakosa (Deputy Director of
Programmes at the FRCN Enugu National Station), Dr Mrs Ojel Anidi (a Chief
Lecturer at the General Studies Department of the Institute of Management and Technology
(IMT), Mr Gregory Mbajiogu (a lecturer in the Department of Theatre and Dramatic
Arts of the University of Nigeria Nsukka), Mrs May Ezeudu (a former Publicity
Secretary of ANA Enugu and Academic Facilitator at ATCOI College of Education),
Mazi Chike Nwaka (a retired deputy co-marshal of the Federal Road Safety Commission
(FRSC) and Mr Sunday Ogbonna (a former Secretary of the Enugu chapter of the Association)
shall all serve as members
High point of the occasion was the
unveiling of the Convention Code name and presentation of hosting documents to
the Chairman and Members of the chapter by the National President of the Association,
Mallam Denja Abdulahi followed by folklore performances, readings from
creative texts. Also a workshop was facilitated by Dr Ojel Anidi with a special
reading session featuring Barr Ugochukwu Agballa.
Comrade Zulu Ofolue,
ANA Enugu Chairman in his remarks assured members of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA)
across the country that no matter the level of preparations for the convention,
the committee will work round the clock to organize standard and acceptable
convention.
In his final words, the
National President of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Mallam Denja Abdulahi
stated the preparedness of the National
Executive of ANA to give maximum support to ANA Enugu towards successful
hosting of the convention this year.
