SIGNS MOU ON LITERARY CONFERENCE/ WORKSHOP WITH ALEX EKWUEME FEDERAL
UNIVERSITY ABAKALIKI, EBONYI STATE (AE-FUNAI)
By Sylva Oko:.
"I was highly elated to be part of this
epoch-making event. Our Vice Chancellor, Prof. Chinedum Nwajiuba was visibly in
high spirits as well. Just rising from the occasion of the 2nd Inaugural
Lecture of the young university delivered by the erudite Prof. Okoronkwo Ugwu,
the V.C. took us down the memory lanes of his academic history, life
experiences and many more.
He went ahead to
underscore the importance of literature and literary creativity not only to the
overall development of man, but to the entire world at large. To him, the field
of literature remains his primary constituency even as he may have consummated
his educational training in the sciences.
With nostalgia, he remembers this
field and hopes to actively return to it in the nearest future. But before
then, he must continue doing all he can to hoist flags, build bridges and roads
that will cause literature to blossom.
This was exactly the
spirit that spurred him to invite the National EXCO of the Association of
Nigerian Authors (ANA), led by the Vice President, Mr Camillus Ukah, to the
university, to sign The Memorandum of Understanding between the The
Incorporated Trustees of the Association of Nigerian Authors(ANA), and the Alex
Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo, on Thursday,24th October 2019, at
the Conference Room of the Vice Chancellor. The MoU was on The Annual Hosting
of the Expanding Frontiers International Conference and Workshops, which
started two years ago at the university." - Sylva Oko, lecturer with the
said university and Secretary of ANA Ebonyi chapter.
